This page is short on purpose. It says what this site can and cannot do for you, and it is the same statement we display on every page.
Content on SmilePro.ae is general education. It is not medical advice and it does not replace an examination by a qualified ophthalmologist.
What this site does not do
- It does not examine your eyes. Nothing here can assess your cornea, your tear film, your refraction or the health of your retina.
- It does not diagnose anything. Reading about a condition and recognising your own symptoms is not a diagnosis, and treating it as one can delay real care.
- It does not tell you whether you are suitable for surgery. Suitability is determined by measurements taken in a clinic and interpreted by a licensed ophthalmologist. That includes the educational checklist on our eligibility page, which is a learning aid and not a screening test.
- It does not predict your outcome. Descriptions of what patients commonly experience are group-level generalisations. They are not a forecast for an individual, and we do not publish success rates or guarantees.
- It does not replace follow-up care. Postoperative instructions, drop schedules, restrictions and warning signs come from your surgeon. Where anything on this site differs from what your surgeon tells you, your surgeon is right and we are wrong.
What this site is
General educational information about SMILE Pro and other refractive procedures, written to help you understand the vocabulary, know which questions to ask, recognise what a comprehensive assessment looks like, and evaluate what a clinic tells you. That is a real and useful thing, and it is not a substitute for clinical care.
On individual results
Individual results vary. Outcomes depend on your prescription, corneal measurements, ocular surface, general health, healing response and the surgeon's technique. Any clinic that guarantees a specific result (or that tells you a procedure is right for everyone) should be treated with caution, and so should anything you read that implies the same.
On risk information
We describe recognised risks and side effects in qualitative terms and deliberately publish no complication rates. Published rates vary substantially between studies, populations and surgeons, and a figure drawn from one population would misrepresent your individual risk rather than describe it. What applies to you is a conversation for your surgeon, using your own measurements.
If you have an eye problem now
Do not use this site to look for an answer. Contact your eye clinic, your ophthalmologist, or emergency services. If you have had recent eye surgery and experience increasing pain, vision that is getting worse rather than fluctuating, worsening light sensitivity, or new discharge, contact your clinic straight away rather than reading further.
