About SmilePro.ae
An independent guide to SMILE Pro vision correction in Dubai, written for the people deciding whether to have it rather than for the clinics selling it.
What this site is
SmilePro.ae is an educational guide and research portal about SMILE Pro and laser vision correction, focused on Dubai and the wider UAE. It exists because the information available to someone considering refractive surgery is overwhelmingly produced by the businesses selling it.
The site builds a single topic cluster rather than a set of disconnected pages: what the procedure is, how it is performed, who it suits, what it costs, how recovery works, what can go wrong, and how to evaluate the clinics and surgeons who provide it. Every page links to the others, so a reader can move from a general explanation to a specific decision without leaving the site.
How we are funded
Independent, with disclosed commercial relationships.
SmilePro.ae is an independent publisher. It is not owned by, funded by, or operated by an eye clinic, a laser manufacturer, or a hospital group.
We may receive a referral or advertising fee when a visitor contacts a participating clinic through this site. Commercial participation never buys placement in an editorial guide, a comparison table, a ranking or a review summary, and it never changes what our educational content says.
Clinics cannot pay to remove a safety note, soften a risks section or edit a comparison. Where a page contains something a clinic would prefer we had not written, it stays in.
Any clinic profile that is commercially sponsored is labelled as sponsored on the profile itself, at the top, not in small print at the bottom.
We may receive a referral or advertising fee when a visitor contacts a participating clinic through this site. Sponsored clinic profiles are labelled as sponsored at the top of the profile, not in a footer. Where a rating appears, it is attributed to the platform it was read from, with a link and a date.
What commercial participation does not buy: placement, a ranking, a softer risk section, a removed safety note, or a favourable comparison. Clinics cannot edit, approve or veto editorial content on this site.
What we do not claim
- We are not a medical provider. We do not examine eyes, we do not diagnose, and we do not recommend a treatment for any individual.
- We are not a substitute for your ophthalmologist. Nothing here can determine whether SMILE Pro, or any other procedure, is appropriate for you.
- We do not claim SMILE Pro is better than LASIK. It is one of several refractive options, each with situations where it is appropriate and situations where it is not. Our comparison page ranks none of them.
- We do not publish outcome statistics we cannot attribute. No success rates, no complication percentages, no "typical" recovery figures presented as promises.
- We do not verify the clinical quality of any clinic. A directory listing means we confirmed factual details. It is not an endorsement of outcomes.
How the content is produced
- Research from primary sources. Clinical reference material, peer-reviewed literature, regulator publications and manufacturer documentation: in that order of preference where they conflict. Sources are listed on the pages that rely on them and in the full reference list.
- Questions shaped by patient search intent. Pages are built around the questions people actually ask, answered directly at the top of each section, rather than around keyword phrases inserted at intervals.
- Escalation into the detail. Every summary links to the explanation behind it, because a short answer that cannot be followed up is a dead end.
- Uncertainty stated, not smoothed over. Where the evidence is mixed or the answer depends on the individual, the page says so. Where we do not know something, we say that too, instead of filling the gap with a plausible figure.
- Verification before publication of any factual claim about a clinic or surgeon. See the verification standard.
Medical review
Unverified clinic, surgeon, price and review information is shown as an explicit placeholder rather than a guess.
Articles and guides display either a named medical reviewer or an explicit “medical review pending” state. We would rather show you a visible gap than attach a name to a review that did not happen. The state is deliberately not hidden, because a site claiming medical review without one is worse than a site that admits it has not had one yet.
When a reviewer is named, the credit carries their post-nominals, the licensing authority that issued them, a link to their public register entry and the date they read that specific page. No record is published without those details, which is why the panel is empty rather than provisionally staffed.

If you find something on this site that is wrong, out of date or misleading, tell us. Email corrections@smilepro.ae with the page and what you believe is incorrect. We will check it against the source and correct the page, including where the correction is unflattering to something we wrote.
Clinics are welcome to submit corrections to their own factual records. They are not welcome to request changes to editorial content, and we will tell them so.
